Sights / Optics: The barrel has no provision for iron sights. The right side of the chamber is marked with magnaflux, proof, and test marks. The bottom of the bolt is hand-etched “3793”. The left side of the barrel is marked “300 WBY MAG” and with an inspection mark and “LO”. Markings: The left side of the receiver is marked with the serial number at the breech and “Remington / MODEL 700” at the midsection.

Remington Barrel Date Code FIREARMS INFORMATION Remington never (*) used serial numbers to identify the date of manufacture of it's firearms, they however stamped a date code (spelled out below) by the first letter meaning the month and the last letter the year of manufacture. Every thing I find pertains to the date codes on the barrels, not the serial number on the receiver. They resumed stamping the date code on the barrel on 10/1/01. They continued to mark the date code on the end flap of the shipping box. (*) On 8/9/99, stopped stamping the barrels with the date code.
